The project fully embraces the European Green Deal, to reverse course and transform climate and environmental challenges into opportunities. It is aimed at all generations and, like a modern Noah, unites them around an ideal, calling them to build a symbolic ark, to convey the message that “Research can help regenerate the planet and save lives”. Researchers from universities and institutions in two regions of southern Italy, Calabria and Basilicata, open the doors of their laboratories; they bring research to the unskilled public and talk to people of any age, to show them the extraordinary normality of their lives and encourage young people to pursue scientific careers while also helping the planet.

The project conveys the message that “research is an inexhaustible (re)source of inspiration to make Europe better for the next generation”. In line with Horizon Europe’s five missions, SuperScienceMe addresses MSCA and Citizen 2022 scope to motivate young people in “shaping more beautiful, sustainable and inclusive forms of living together.”SuperScienceMe brings research results into schools of urban, suburban, and rural areas in two neighbouring regions of Southern Italy (Calabria and Basilicata with more than 3.800 schools) to help build a science-literate society. The 2022-2023 NIGHT editions will support schoolteachers in developing a scientific informal education for a “school beyond the school” to learn from the present/past and to build the future of research.

Documentation and Conservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) is crucial to preserve humankind’s history and traditions, safeguarding tangible testimonies of past human life while ensuring its accessibility to present and future generations. TECTONIC project will promote an intersectoral collaboration between academic and non-academic professionals (such as technical experts, archaeologists, conservator, geologists, engineers, computer scientists) working in different topics related to the UCHs, to respond and find solutions to the complex issues still existing in the field of UCH.
